TICKETS NOW ON SALE FOR DONEGAL’S VERY FIRST GIN TRAIL
Voted the Coolest Place on the Planet last year by National Geographic Traveller magazine, Donegal has just got even cooler in 2018 with the addition of the county’s very first guided Gin Trail. Brought to you by the talented team here at Donegal Food Tours – an exciting new tour company showcasing the finest food and drink hotspots in the county – the Donegal Gin Trail will take guests on an afternoon to remember around this beautiful county stopping at five gin themed locations along the way.
And the best bit? Just sit back, relax and enjoy the journey – no need to worry about who is driving, where to go or where to find the best hospitality along the way. The Donegal Food Tours team have done all the hard work for you!
The following is an example route for the Donegal Gin Trail. We visit Michelin recommended ‘The Lemon Tree Restaurant’, where guests can sample some incredible local ingredients with award-winning Head Chef Chris Molloy and enjoy a refreshing An Dulaman Gin & Tonic – the first gin distilled in Donegal based on a delicious combination of seaweed and local folklore.
Then it’s on to visit two popular Donegal establishments who have created their very own gins this year. Castle Grove Country House Hotel, will shake up one of their delicious Strawberry Gin Cocktails. This gin is produced using strawberries which had been grown in their own walled garden. Following from this, we would visit the charming Olde Glen Bar. They too have created their very first gin in celebration of the bar’s 250-year anniversary, this year.
Ireland’s reputation for premium gin is definitely on the rise and during this tour guests will also sample other Irish gins alongside some tasty artisan pizza at ‘The Goose and Gander’ in Carraigart, before making the journey back to Letterkenny, via the heritage town of Ramelton, for the final gin experience at The Bridge Bar – courtesy of Donegal’s hottest new gin ‘Muff Liquor’.
